Nothing but Crazy Eyes
We live about 2 miles from campus, and I’ve been walking to class a lot. It would be a lie to say that I walk all the time, but I end up hoofing it a good deal of the time. This week, we’ve had about five consecutive days of rain so after walking to class [...]

All Done
With the semester, that is. So far, I’ve celebrated with knitting night and a dinner/Ikea date with Aidan. I bought a new desk and desk chair. Together, the two pieces create an awesome study space combo which screams, “Yeah, I like reading and writing. What?”
I’ve also been doing a fair amount of knitting, thanks in [...]

A quick and dirty update
Oh, end of the semester–how you make me want to bang my head against the wall.
I have a ton of work to get done, and I am happy to report that I’m actually making progress. I feel like everything that was laid out before me was a gigantic boulder stuck in a rut in the [...]

Good Riddance
Aidan and I decided to indulge our love of all things ridiculous on Friday night with a marathon of Final Destination 1, 2, AND 3. It was awesome. I dedicated the time to working on the Herringbone Rib Socks (Ravelry link) that I started way back at the beginning of January. They’re finally done.
I really, [...]

Emo Barbie
I am seriously slumping it right now. By that I mean, I feel mired in this “blech” place where I feel unmotivated, unexcited, dispassionate, suspended. I’ve had some brief reenergizing moments–accepting an offer to a PhD program in Syracuse, going to a conference in San Francisco, going to a feminist theory workshop at Duke. But [...]

Where the hell have I been?
Well, I’ve been traveling, so I’ve been a couple of places. But mostly, I think I’ve been pulled into a time suck where I keep meaning to do various things (like blog) but keep forgetting or running out of time and meanwhile time just keeps passing so quickly that I think I’m developing some anxiety [...]

Home Again, Home Again
We’re back from Wisconsin, which is frankly a little sad. I really, really, really, really hate living so far away from my family, especially from my dad. But we had an awesome visit full of fun, good food and a lot of movies. Unfortunately, Aidan and I brought a lethal mixture of sickness and laze [...]

Dec. 21=Super Awesome
Today is a super-awesome day because this
has now been going on (and going strong) for three super-awesome years. I am a lucky, lucky woman. I love you, baby!
We kept our celebration low-key and just spent the day hanging out with one another. We went out and did basically all of our Christmas shopping and then [...]

Cuz, baby, it’s cold outside
I finally have pictures to prove that the many finished projects I’ve been talking about aren’t just a ruse. First, I have the Bird in Hand mittens that I finished at the beginning of the month.
I used Dale of Norway Baby Ull to make these. The pattern itself calls for a worsted weight yarn knit [...]

I finished Aidan’s birthday socks on Monday night.
(I know that Aidan is really excited that I included this last photo.)
I also started a new project–the Peek-a-Boo cloche from Lace Style (Ravelry link). I love the construction of this hat. You start by knitting the stockinette liner for the hat from the top down, and then [...]
