For the past week, I been working steadily on Liesl. I’ve knit through 4 of the 6 balls of Main Line I ordered for this project, and this is what I have so far:

I’m really, really, really happy with how it’s turning out. When I first saw this sweater on Ysolda Teague’s blog, I loved it but wasn’t sure if it was right for me. That is, I half-expected there to be some serious disappointment when a sweater that looked really cute on the pattern models actually ended up on my body. But now, even though I’m only a bit more than half-way done with this piece, I’m convinced that it’s going to look great and that my previous anxieties are only the result of having gotten into a dirty habit of wearing too many concert Tshirts too often.

I currently have both the armholes and the bottom of the sweater held on scrap yarn because I’m hoping to still lengthen the body by a few inches. But since I only have two balls of yarn left, I want to knit the sleeves first (I’m planning on doing half sleeves) and then dedicate whatever yarn I have leftover to the body of the sweater. Unfortunately, this means that Liesl is currently on hold until I can get to the yarn store to buy the needles I need to knit the sleeves. And that probably isn’t going to be until Friday. In the mean time, I’ve started the second Noro sock. While I’ve been finishing the toe on said sock and starting the foot, Aidan’s been busy with a new origami book he bought this weekend.

The origami butterfly Aidan made me can't wait until my sweater is finished.

Now, if only the cats could find something creative to do, we could have a whole-family craft circle.

On a totally unrelated note, someone posted this old yarn ad to the Queer Ravelry group:

This made my day. I hope it makes yours.

    laughing out loud.

by the way…do your cats not make hairballs? i guess that’s not really crafty…sorry, couldn’t resist.

Does it count as “crafty” when Ike unravels an entire ball of yarn in the living room, intricately going around all legs of the furniture?

If so, it’s really only Mona and Neko that need work.
